Small Bowl – Aberta COR – Red & Pink

Our handmade small stoneware bowl has a flat base and a wall that flares outward toward the rim. Its colour combination gives the simple shape a surprising depth. It was made in a manufactory in northern Portugal.

In the morning it holds muesli, in the evening a small salad. It gets taken out of the cupboard often and rarely stays there for long.

The small bowl is part of ABERTA COR, the colour edition of our ABERTA collection by onomao (cor is Portuguese for colour). It is available in the colour combinations pink and red, blue and light yellow, and espresso and light blue, all of which can be freely mixed and matched. Stoneware, whether glazed or unglazed, is dishwasher safe.

ABERTA COR – CERAMICS FOR EVERYDAY LIFE

ABERTA is a tableware collection for everyday use, with nine essential pieces that find their place on any table: plates, mugs and bowls for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
ABERTA COR combines sturdiness with minimalism. Its dual design draws on graphic elements – tableware that unites opposites. The interplay of glazes in two contrasting colours brings the collection to life. Mixed or on their own, the colour combinations create a striking look. ABERTA means "open" in Portuguese, referring both to the conical shape that opens upwards and to the idea of coming together around the table. Each piece is handmade in Portugal and may therefore show small individual characteristics.

FOOD CULTURE

For many, high-quality food has become a fundamental part of their life culture. Conscious nutrition and organically grown food are experiencing a new cult.

Eating also means rest and enjoyment. It is often the time when family members come together from their individual lives and spend time together around the table. Intense communication takes place during this ritual, which otherwise often finds little space.

With onomao ceramics we try to contribute to this culture of life. Through sustainable production and fair manufacturing conditions, they extend the cycle of conscious food intake. Our desire is to develop durable products that visually embellish the ritual of eating for many years.

THE PLACE WHERE ABERTA COR IS MADE

ABERTA COR is made in northern Portugal, in a family-run business that is one of the manufacturers we have been working with for many years. It is nestled in the gentle hills of Porto's hinterland. The family looks back on a long tradition of ceramics: the knowledge of working with clay has been passed down through generations and continually refined. Our KLASSIK collection is made there as well.
The pieces in the ABERTA COR collection are pressed by hand. Once dried, they are cleaned and finished, then glazed in two colours and fired.

Questions & Answers

more questions and answers
To what extent do the products differ from the photos in the online store?

Due to the handmade production, all products differ slightly among themselves in shape, color and texture. This makes each piece unique and gives the products their individual charm.

Where are the products made?

We manufacture most of our products in Portugal. Our glasses products are made in the north of Spain.

How do I take care of my tableware to keep it in good condition for a long time?

onomao products are designed for long-term use. They are dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. Treat your tableware with care and avoid exposing it to drastic temperature changes, as this can cause cracking. With our matte glazes, cutlery marks may appear over time. However, these are only superficial and can usually be easily removed with baking soda and a soft cloth.
