We love the large bowl. It triggers culinary fantasies in us and we use it for virtually everything. Whether homemade ravioli, vegetables on roasted buckwheat or classic tomato salad on buffalo mozzarella. It decorates the table and invites socializing.

Our handmade large bowl was made in Portugal. Its design is simple yet concise.

The large bowl of our collection TRADITIONAL is available in many glazes and was produced sustainably and fairly. Stoneware is suitable glazed as unglazed for cleaning in the dishwasher and may even in the oven.

TRADITIONELL – timeless ceramics from Portugal

TRADITIONELL is our first tableware collection: minimal in form, timeless in expression. The steep rim of soup plates, meze plates, and tapas plates defines its distinctive design – robust, clear, and rooted in Portuguese craftsmanship. Made for everyday use, the stoneware – glazed or unglazed – is dishwasher-safe and even ovenproof.

The collection is available in a variety of mostly reactive glazes that can be consistently combined. The result is a table setting that endures – plates, bowls, and cups in harmonious color variations, all handmade in Portugal.

FOOD CULTURE

For many, high-quality food has become a fundamental part of their life culture. Conscious nutrition and organically grown food are experiencing a new cult.

Eating also means rest and enjoyment. It is often the time when family members come together from their individual lives and spend time together around the table. Intense communication takes place during this ritual, which otherwise often finds little space.

With onomao ceramics we try to contribute to this culture of life. Through sustainable production and fair manufacturing conditions, they extend the cycle of conscious food intake. Our desire is to develop durable products that visually embellish the ritual of eating for many years.

Close relationship: our first ceramic producer

Every company can surely reflect on that one relevant collaboration that has fundamentally accompanied and shaped the path of individual development. For us, it's the collaboration with Mario.

Mario grew up in a pottery family and had just taken over the management of the family business at the beginning of onomao when we were looking for a manufacturer to be able to establish onomao.

The TRADITIONELL collection is produced, among others, in Mario’s manufactory. Since 2018, all shapes have been created here using clay sourced from the region. Along this journey — from the first prototypes to today’s series — we have learned a great deal about materials, processes, and durability.

Questions & Answers

more questions and answers
To what extent do the products differ from the photos in the online store?

Due to the handmade production, all products differ slightly among themselves in shape, color and texture. This makes each piece unique and gives the products their individual charm.

Where are the products made?

We manufacture most of our products in Portugal. Our glasses products are made in the north of Spain.

Are the products manufactured sustainably?

The onomao products are made in manufactories in Portugal. This means they have shorter transport routes and less CO2 is emitted. We use only recycled or natural materials from the region. In order not to waste resources, we also buy products with small blemishes from our manufactures.

How do I take care of my tableware to keep it in good condition for a long time?

onomao products are designed for long-term use. They are dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. Treat your tableware with care and avoid exposing it to drastic temperature changes, as this can cause cracking. With our matte glazes, cutlery marks may appear over time. However, these are only superficial and can usually be easily removed with baking soda and a soft cloth.
