3 facts about our glass carafe made from recycled glass

Glass carafe for water, iced tea or wine: Mouth-blown glass carafe made from 80% recycled glass. For serving water, juice or wine. Also available in a set with glasses.

The material

The glass carafe from onomao is made in a family-run factory in Portugal. They are made from 80% recycled glass, which makes them a sustainable interior piece. The material glass offers a wide range of processing and shaping options. The glass carafes are hand-blown and then hot-ground. The bubble look in the glass carafe is created by sodium sprinkled on the surface. The glass carafe is robust and can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher.

The size

The glass carafe has a capacity of 750ml and is therefore large enough to serve a wide variety of drinks. Whether mineral water, a refreshing lemonade or chilled natural wine: the carafe is a practical companion and puts the drinks in the spotlight in style. Alternatively, we also like to fill the carafe with water and use it as a flower vase. But even without any contents, it is a beautiful accessory on the kitchen shelf or in the display cabinet. The glass carafe is also available in a set with large and small glasses.

The design

Our glass carafe has a modern design. It is mouth-blown from recycled glass. The carafe is cylindrical in shape and has a small spout for pouring. Its wide diameter means it sits firmly in the hand. The surface of the glass carafe is covered with small bubbles of different sizes and intensities. They are created by adding sodium to the molten glass. The bubbles are always slightly different, which makes each glass carafe unique.

GLASS – WHERE IT COMES FROM AND WHAT IT DOES TO US

The oldest man-made glass probably dates back to around 3500 BC in the Near East. Glass was produced as a by-product of glazes.

From that moment on, this form of production has never left humanity alone. The fascination with the stable and transparent material continues to this day.

We associate purity, joy, refreshment, aesthetics and much more with glasses. They are part of our everyday lives and adorn billions of display cabinets, kitchen cabinets and dining tables around the world. They are thrown into the air at major celebrations such as weddings, New Year's Eve parties or birthdays and faces beaming with joy look at them with enthusiasm. We associate countless rituals with them. Glass is part of our lives and that is what makes it so valuable.
