Espresso Cup – ABERTA COR – Red & Pink

Sale price10,00 €
Quantity: Single

30-day returns30-day returns

Our handmade stoneware espresso cup is small and pared back, while its colour combination gives it a clear graphic presence. It was made in a manufactory in northern Portugal.

After a meal or in between: an espresso doesn't need much of a vessel, but it does need the right one. The cup sits comfortably in the hand and stacks to save space.

The espresso cup is part of ABERTA COR, the colour edition of our ABERTA collection by onomao (cor is Portuguese for colour). It is available in the colour combinations pink and red, blue and light yellow, and espresso and light blue, all of which can be freely mixed and matched. Stoneware, glazed or unglazed, is dishwasher safe.

Details

Collection: Aberta COR

Color and glazes are applied by hand. The shape is creamy white, which is created by the transparent glaze and the light natural shade of the clay. The orange or blue rim is drawn by hand with a brushstroke.

Due to the manufacture by hand, each shape is a little different. We consider these natural variations a part of the unique beauty of each piece.

ABERTA COR – CERAMICS FOR EVERYDAY LIFE

ABERTA is a tableware collection for everyday use, with nine essential pieces that find their place on any table: plates, mugs and bowls for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
ABERTA COR combines sturdiness with minimalism. Its dual design draws on graphic elements – tableware that unites opposites. The interplay of glazes in two contrasting colours brings the collection to life. Mixed or on their own, the colour combinations create a striking look. ABERTA means "open" in Portuguese, referring both to the conical shape that opens upwards and to the idea of coming together around the table. Each piece is handmade in Portugal and may therefore show small individual characteristics.

LOYAL COMPANIONS

Most people think very little about the number of everyday actions. The fact that we pick up a mug or cup many, many times a day, warm ourselves by it, smell its contents, is one of these automated everyday actions that take place virtually incidentally.

But it is precisely these actions that represent moments of real life. They enrich our everyday life. Objects such as mugs and cups become faithful companions through our lives. They wake us up in the morning with a cup of coffee, they ensure that we are sufficiently hydrated during the day with plenty of herbal tea, they assist us during a cold with a hot ginger infusion, they help us digest a hearty meal with an espresso before the evening really gets going, they support us during breastfeeding with fennel tea and they ensure a peaceful night's sleep with a good evening tea.

That is life. Life with drinking vessels.

THE PLACE WHERE ABERTA COR IS MADE

ABERTA COR is made in northern Portugal, in a family-run business that is one of the manufacturers we have been working with for many years. It is nestled in the gentle hills of Porto's hinterland. The family looks back on a long tradition of ceramics: the knowledge of working with clay has been passed down through generations and continually refined. Our KLASSIK collection is made there as well.
The pieces in the ABERTA COR collection are pressed by hand. Once dried, they are cleaned and finished, then glazed in two colours and fired.

Questions & Answers

more questions and answers
To what extent do the products differ from the photos in the online store?

Due to the handmade production, all products differ slightly among themselves in shape, color and texture. This makes each piece unique and gives the products their individual charm.

Where are the products made?

We manufacture most of our products in Portugal. Our glasses products are made in the north of Spain.

How do I take care of my tableware to keep it in good condition for a long time?

onomao products are designed for long-term use. They are dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. Treat your tableware with care and avoid exposing it to drastic temperature changes, as this can cause cracking. With our matte glazes, cutlery marks may appear over time. However, these are only superficial and can usually be easily removed with baking soda and a soft cloth.
