"Classic" is handmade in the north of Portugal. Its classic, reduced shapes are designed to support a long use.

Color and glazes are applied by hand. Over time the matte glaze may show signs of usage due to cutlery wear. This abrasion is solely surface level and can easily be removed with some natron and a soft towel.
Due to the manufacture by hand, each shape is a little different. We consider these natural variations a part of the unique beauty of each piece.

In the course of developing our second tableware collection CLASSIC, we went in search of another ceramic manufactory. We landed at a family business, which is located in the gentle hills behind Porto - near Viana do Costelo.
The family looks back on a long ceramic tradition. Working with clay has been consistently passed down from generation to generation and specialized. Just about every region of Portugal has its own style of ceramics. In the north, towns like Viana do Castelo are known for their floral designs.

Our CLASSIC-collection is hand-stamped before being hand-cleaned and refined after a drying process to be hand-glazed after firing. Creative painting is one of the manufactory's hobbyhorses. Thus, CLASSIC gets its stripes lovingly hand-painted in a small studio.

FRIENDS OF THE HEAT - OFF TO THE OVEN

Stoneware ceramic can be placed in the oven because it is made of a clay material that has good thermal conductivity. This allows it to absorb and release heat evenly in the oven, which means that the food in it is cooked evenly and gently. Moreover, stoneware is sturdy and durable, so it can withstand the high temperatures in the oven without breaking or damaging. However, it is important to note that ceramic stoneware dishes should not be exposed to high temperature fluctuations. Accordingly, the previous day's lasagna from the refrigerator should not be placed in the heated oven. Bon appetit!
