OUR SUPPLY CHAIN
OUR RAW MATERIALS
When choosing our raw materials, we consider factors such as their origin, suitability and availability. For our ceramics we use clay from Portugal. Depending on the extraction batch, the composition of the raw material can vary. Material-related colour variations are therefore possible and are a characteristic feature of the material.
The drinking glasses and carafes are made from 99% recycled glass. This returns the material to the loop and gives it a new life.
FROM THE IDEA TO THE PRODUCT
The realization of new products is based on a close exchange between our designers and manufacturers: How can the manufacturers implement our ideas? Is the design feasible? Which materials make sense for the use of the desired product?
The initial idea and design, through the sampling process, to the finished prototype takes about three months. The product is not manufactured until the prototype passes our quality control.
Before we launch a new product, we think carefully about what makes sense as a supplement or extension to the existing range. Because even though we are continually expanding our product portfolio, we want to maintain our core values.
PRODUCTION
Our products are made in Portugal, with the exception of the glasses, which are produced in Poland. We want to work with our production partners as equals and are in close contact with them. With many of the workshops we have long-standing relationships.
We want to combine traditional craftsmanship, such as pottery and glassblowing, with modern designs. Manual steps play an essential role in the making of our products. Every piece is taken in hand and worked into a one-of-a-kind item.
LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT
Our ceramics are made in Portugal and transported from there to Germany. We bundle our orders with each producer and have them delivered together to our site in Cologne. This way we avoid unnecessary individual shipments.
We also keep distances short within our production region when sourcing: the raw materials for our ceramics come from the region around our workshops or are bought regionally in Portugal. This keeps our supply chain deliberately manageable and allows us to work closely with our production partners.
THE COLOGNE LOCATION
Our office and our shop are located in Cologne. Our warehouse is based here as well. From there we coordinate our orders and the shipping to our customers.
PLASTIC-FREE SHIPPING
We ship our orders with DHL GoGreen Plus. This means that DHL achieves CO2e savings within its own logistics network (insetting). We ship plastic-free and use FSC-certified shipping boxes as well as paper tape. Our products are additionally packed in cardboard product packaging, which is not yet FSC-certified. We also try to reuse return parcels as filling material.
Versatile designs
We want our products to be put to many different uses. Beyond their pure functionality, we want our products to contribute to a pleasant atmosphere and to well-being. Our ceramics combine beautifully and are also at home away from the dining table and the kitchen. The carafes – whether glass or stoneware – are not only suited to your favourite drink, they also cut a fine figure as a vase. The cups can be used as a toothbrush holder or a pen pot.
PASS ON, REPAIR, REUSE
To avoid products being disposed of unnecessarily, we have decided to also buy the B-grade goods from our producers, so that items with small cosmetic flaws are put to use as well. We sell these in our "Archive Sales".
To make sure our products serve you for a long time, we pay particular attention to high quality and timeless design. Quality plays an important role both in our choice of materials and in production. Should something break or no longer appeal to you, we would like to encourage you to pass the products on or repair them instead of disposing of them prematurely.
