Collection: Aberta
Material: Stoneware
Dimensions: D 20.8 cm / H 4 cm

Color and glazes are applied by hand. The shape is creamy white, which is created by the transparent glaze and the light natural shade of the clay. The orange or blue rim is drawn by hand with a brushstroke.

Due to the manufacture by hand, each shape is a little different. We consider these natural variations a part of the unique beauty of each piece.

Care Instructions

Dish washer safe
Oven safe (up to 200°C)
Microwave safe

With our matte glazes, cutlery abrasion may occur over time. However, this is only superficial and can usually be easily removed with baking soda and a soft cloth.

Care should be taken not to expose the ceramic to dramatic temperature changes (e.g. pouring hot liquid into an ice-cold bowl or cup), as this can cause cracking.

ABERTA – ceramics for everyday life

The ABERTA collection is a dinnerware set for everyday use – with eight essential pieces that find their place on any table: plates, cups, and bowls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. ABERTA combines stability with minimalism. It is strong yet delicate, understated yet open – tableware that unites contrasts. “Aberta” means “open” in Portuguese, referring both to the conical form that opens upward and to the idea of togetherness around the table.

A hand-painted rim in orange or blue frames each piece and emphasizes its clean shape – every item a unique piece, crafted in Portugal.

FOOD CULTURE

For many, high-quality food has become a fundamental part of their life culture. Conscious nutrition and organically grown food are experiencing a new cult.

Eating also means rest and enjoyment. It is often the time when family members come together from their individual lives and spend time together around the table. Intense communication takes place during this ritual, which otherwise often finds little space.

With onomao ceramics we try to contribute to this culture of life. Through sustainable production and fair manufacturing conditions, they extend the cycle of conscious food intake. Our desire is to develop durable products that visually embellish the ritual of eating for many years.

Collection Aberta

Our third ceramic collection is produced in a ceramic factory in central Portugal. The factory was founded in 1988 by a family that has a long tradition in the ceramic industry and has more than fifty years of experience in ceramic manufacturing.

Over the years, the company has continually evolved without detaching itself from the traditional component that characterizes the Alcobaça region. Among other things, they have specialized in hand-painting. We are very fond of this combination of tradition and modernity.

Our ABERTA collection is the first collection that we are having produced in Alcobaça.
