THE CLASSIC CERAMIC MANUFACTORY
In the course of developing our second tableware collection KLASSIK we went in search of another ceramic manufacturer. We landed at a family business in the rolling hills behind Porto. The family looks back on a long ceramic tradition. Working with clay has been consistently passed down and specialized from generation to generation.
Our KLASSIK collection is tamped by hand before being cleaned and refined after a drying process to be glazed before firing. Creative hand-painting is part of the manufacturer's hobbyhorse. Thus KLASSIK gets her stripes missed in loving handwork in the small studio.
WHAT ACTUALLY IS STONEWARE?
Stoneware is a high-quality material, which is the result of careful production. It consists of clay, quartz and feldspar. Molds are formed from this mixture and, after a drying phase, are fired at high temperatures. During the firing process, the material becomes particularly resistant and can therefore be used in a variety of ways. The production of stoneware requires a lot of experience. The result is a durable and aesthetically pleasing ceramic that can be used in many areas.
